Ways you Can Damage Your Teeth?

The enamel of your teeth is one of the , most important parts of your teeth. This is what protects them from feeling pain from hot or cold foods and protects them from decay.

Unfortunately, there are many ways that you can damage your enamel, doing simple, every day activities. Knowing what can damage your enamel can help you to avoid doing them and preserve your teeth.

• Avoid eating an excessive amount of sweets and carbohydrates. This includes candy, cookies, chips, crackers, and cupcakes. Anything with a high carbohydrate or sugar content can leave give the bacteria on your teeth something to thrive on causing it to slowly eat away at the enamel.

• Letting a dry mouth go. If you have a dry mouth, talk to us about it. Whether it is due to medications, hormones or stress, we can help you figure out the problem and rectify it. A lack of saliva allows bacteria to sit on your teeth eating away at the enamel.

• Digestion issues that go untreated. If you have acid reflux or even an eating disorder, you are subjecting your enamel to excessive acids. These acids eat away at the enamel, giving your sensitive, damaged and decayed teeth.

• Consuming acidic foods in large quantities. Citrus fruits, tomatoes and lemons are common culprits when it comes to leaving acids on your teeth. If you eat them in large quantities, they can greatly affect your enamel.
